# RateRight — Contractor Onboarding Guide (Draft v1)

*Goal: hire someone reliable without getting slugged 20–30% forever.*

## 1) What RateRight is
- You pay **$50 once per completed hire**.
- Unlimited duration. If they stay a day or 3 years, it’s still $50.
- Workers keep **100% of their wage**.

## 2) Set the job up properly (this prevents 90% of problems)
Include:
- Site suburb + start time + duration
- Role (labourer/carpenter/steelfixer/etc.)
- Tickets required (White Card, EWP, etc.)
- Tools/PPE required
- Rate (hourly) + pay cycle
- Who they report to on site

## 3) Expectation-setting message (copy/paste)
“G’day [Name]. Start is **[time]** at **[address]**. Report to **[supervisor]**. Bring **[PPE/tools]**. Rate is **$[x]/hr**, paid **[weekly]**. If you’re running late, message me before start. Cheers.”

## 4) Day 1 best practice
- Confirm attendance the night before
- Provide induction details (parking, gate, sign-in)
- Give a clear first task (don’t leave them standing around)

## 5) Ratings: use them to improve the marketplace
If it doesn’t work out, leave **constructive** feedback:
- “Good worker, needs better timekeeping”
- “Strong on formwork, not suited to finishing”
This helps the next hire go better and lifts the whole platform.

## 6) If there’s a problem (quick playbook)
- Late/no-show: message them once + log it.
- Poor fit: move tasks or end early (stay professional).
- Safety: stop work immediately and follow site procedure.

## 7) When to escalate to RateRight
Escalate if:
- repeated no-shows
- pay dispute
- serious behaviour/safety issue
- rating dispute

## 8) The rule
**Be clear upfront.** It’s the cheapest “insurance” you’ll ever buy.
