# Culvert Pit — with deck

**Total per pit: $16,830** (ordinary labour basis, no contingency)

The most labour-intensive pit type per Hasibul's data — substantially higher than stormwater pit ($10,770) due to deck pour + extra formwork courses.

## Buildup

| Task | Crew | Hours | Rate | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Formwork Base (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | (in subtotals) |
| Steel Base (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | $1,700 |
| Pour Base (1 lad × 4 hrs) | 1 | 4 hrs | $85 | $340 |
| Steel Walls (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | $1,700 |
| Form Walls (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | $1,700 |
| Pour Walls (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | $1,700 |
| Strip Walls (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | $1,700 |
| Form Deck (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | $1,700 |
| Steel Deck (2 lads × 1 day) | 2 | 20 hrs | $85 | $1,700 |
| Pour Deck (2 lads × 5 hrs) | 2 | 10 hrs | $85 | $850 |
| Strip Deck (2 lads × 2 days) | 2 | 40 hrs | $85 | $3,400 |
| Prelims and Margin | — | 4 hrs | $85 | $340 |
| **Total per pit** | | | | **$16,830** |

## Productivity calibration

- Use this rate **as-is** for similar civil culvert pits with deck, day shift, no live-flow complications
- **+30–50% productivity adjustment** if working around live flow (live pipe through pit footprint or adjacent open channel)
- **+8 hr midnight loading per person per shift** if night-shift crossing midnight (Rate Card V1.7)
- Strip Deck (40 hrs) is the heaviest line — props/formwork stay in for 2 days minimum to allow deck cure before strip

## Notes

- Includes deck pour (which stormwater pit does not)
- 11 line items vs 7 for stormwater pit — extra labour comes from deck steel + form + pour + extended strip
- Excludes: reo supply, concrete supply, demolition, excavation, ERSED, traffic control (typical default = head contractor)

## Cross-reference

- Compare with [[stormwater-pit-internal-900-ext-1500]] — culvert pit is 56% more expensive due to deck pour
