# 🗺️ RateRight City Expansion Plan

**Directive from Michael (Feb 20, 2026):** Platform is online and Australia-wide. No reason to limit to Sydney. Branch out to 2-3 cities at a time, including hostels in each city for worker acquisition.

**Key insight:** Bigger companies (up to several hundred employees) are IN scope. More employees = more hiring volume = more $50 fees.

---

## Updated Targeting Criteria

| Parameter | OLD | NEW |
|-----------|-----|-----|
| Company size | 5-50 employees | **5-500+** (volume hirers welcome) |
| Geography | Sydney only | **Multi-city, Australia-wide** |
| "Too big" threshold | 50+ employees | **No upper limit** (unless they have locked-in agency contracts we can't displace) |
| Regional | Excluded | **Included** (if there's hiring demand) |

---

## Recommended City Rollout — Phase 1

### Priority Cities (based on construction pipeline, hiring demand, and hostel/WHV density)

| City | Construction Pipeline | Why Now | Hostel Density |
|------|----------------------|---------|----------------|
| **Sydney** (current) | Western Sydney Airport $5.3B, Metro West $11.5B, Powerhouse Parramatta $1.4B | Already active, 18 leads in current batch | High — Surry Hills, Kings Cross, CBD |
| **Newcastle** (add NOW) | Hunter Valley regional projects, precast operations | 2 leads already in today's batch (Mascot, Tomago). Growing satellite of Sydney. | Moderate — Newcastle Beach, Hamilton |
| **Melbourne** (Phase 1) | Metro Tunnel $12.58B opening 2026, Sunshine Station Superhub, Airport Rail Link | Largest labour shortage hotspot. $12.58B metro alone = 7,000 jobs. | High — St Kilda, Fitzroy, CBD |

### Phase 2 (after proving multi-city model)

| City | Construction Pipeline | Why |
|------|----------------------|-----|
| **Brisbane** | $127B QLD infrastructure pipeline, Olympic 2032 prep, Sunshine Coast Athletes Village | Olympic pipeline = decade of work. WHV/hostel hub. |
| **Perth** | Ocean Reef Marina $272M, mining-adjacent construction | Strong wages, worker shortage, but isolated market. |
| **Adelaide** | 4,558+ housing units across 4 projects all delivering 2026 | Housing boom, smaller market but less competition. |

## Labour Market Context (Feb 2026)

- **$242B** national infrastructure pipeline (2024-2029)
- Labour shortage escalating: **38,000 now → 181,000 by 2027**
- Every state has critical projects
- Hunter Valley, Sunshine Coast, Mackay specifically called out as regional opportunity hotspots
- Our trades (formwork, steel fixing, concreting) are in the "Critical Demand" category

**This is exactly the environment RateRight was built for.** Contractors can't find workers through agencies fast enough, and the markup model bleeds them dry over 6-month engagements. $50 flat fee is a no-brainer at this scale.

*The $242B pipeline and 181,000 worker shortage by 2027 means every city in Australia needs what we're building. Time to stop thinking local.*
